Keeping Kids Active

IN COLD OR RAINY WEATHER,
ARE YOUR KIDS STAYING ACTIVE?

Cold or rainy weather makes it harder for children to be active when they can’t ride a bike or play outside.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) offers the following advice on how to keep your kids active anyway:

  • Take your kids with you for a fitness center workout.
  • Head to the mall for a walk.
  • Make TV commercial time a “movement time.” Have your kids get up and move around.
  • Take advantage of youth-fitness products to keep kids busy indoors, such as at-home yoga kits and child exercise videos and games.

ACE recommends children get approximately 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
This activity can be broken up into smaller intervals of 10 to 20 minutes.
