If you have not seen the movie Held Hostage on the Life Time Movie Network. I suggest you take the time to watch. I interviewed the author of the book, Michelee Renee who wrote the book after she and her 11 year old daughter were kidnapped and she was made to rob the bank where she was the bank manager. It is a story of a woman’s triumph over being a victim of her three kidnappers and than becoming a victim of a legal system which was supposed to protect Michelle or her daughter from being re-victimized. Anyone who has been the victim of a violent crime is forever affected by the incident and is in desperate need of professional assistance from someone who it trained and specializes in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) can cause flash-backs and the victim literally relives the experience over and over again. If the person does not get treatment they can become impaired. I urge to you to watch this important movie and/or buy the book “Held Hostage” by Michelle Renee. Please take the time to learn more about “victimization” and what you can do to help. Women unfortunately are more often are victims of violent crimes and becoming a Victim Advocate in your community is a way to advocate and help women who have been victimized. Contact your local Victim Assistance Center or the Prosecutor’s office in your city government. We cannot put our heads in the sand.
